Types and Ways to prepare Koli Food.
Prawns Curry :
Ingredients:
Prawns: medium sized; 200 gmsCoconut: ¼ cupCoriander leaves: handfulRed chillies: 2-3 or as per your heat quotient Garlic paste: 1 tbspKoli masala: 1 tbsptamarind paste: 2 tbspSaltTurmeric powderOil: 1 tbsp+1 tsp
Method:
Clean and wash the prawns. Mix in little salt and turmeric and keep aside.In a grinder make a thick paste of the red chilies, coconut and koli masala and coriander. Mix this with the prawns, also add a spoonful of oil to it. keep aside for 15 minutes.Mix the garlic paste with 2 tbsps water. Heat 1 tbsp oil and add the garlic paste. Sauté till oil starts to separate at the sides and the raw smell of the garlic is gone. Add the prawn mixture and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes. Keep stirring so that the spice is cooked through.Add ¾ cup of water and tamarind paste. Mix and cook on medium for another 2-3 minutes.Serve hot with steamed white rice.
Pomfret fry :
Ingredients: 1 lb Pom fret, 2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp Lemon Juice 1 tsp Turmeric powder 1 tsp Black Pepper 1 tbsp Red Chilli powder 1 tbsp Coriander powder 1/2 tbsp Garam Masala Salt to taste 2 tbsp Sooji 1 tsp Rice Flour.
METHOD Wash pom-fret, pat dry, cut its tail and side wings. Take ginger garlic paste, salt, lemon juice and turmeric powder, make paste and apply on fish, keep for 10 mts. Take coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, salt, mix well and apply on fish. Mix sooji, rice flour, salt together, deep fish in sooji mixture and coat well form both the sides. Shallow fry from both the sides in nonstick pan for 3 to 4 minutes on medium heat.
CRISPY SURMAI FRY :

Ingredients:
For Fish Marinade Surmai Fish / Seer Fish 1 tsp Lemon Juice 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste 1/4 tsp Salt 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
For Fish Masala 1 tbsp Red Chilli powder 2 tbsp Rice Flour 1 tsp Garam Masala 1 tbsp chopped Coriander Leaves Salt to taste 1 tbsp Tamarind Pulp 3 tbsp Water
For Crispy Fish Coating 4 tbsp Coarse Sooji 1 tsp Chilli powder Salt to taste Oil fr shallow frying
Method
Wash surmai fish really good and pat dry very well. Now take washed and dried fish in to a bowl. To that add ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder and salt. Apply marinade very well all over fish pieces. Cover and set that aside for 15 mts. To make fish fry masala, take 2 tbsp rice flour in to a bowl. To that add red chilli powder, garam masala and mix well. Add salt to taste. Add tamarind pulp and mix well. Add water and mix well to make that in to a thick paste. Now take fish pieces and coat them very well and applying fish fry masala. Once all the fish are coated well with masala, keep them aside. Now take sooji / rawa in to a separate dish. To that add red chilli powder, salt and mix well. Coat fish pieces from both the side very well in to sooji mixture and keep them aside. Now heat a pan over medium high heat, add oil in to that. Put fish pieces over oil and allow it to fry till it gets deep golden color from both the sides.
